Our Café
Dass Kaffee uns aufgeweckt und munter macht, das haben wir im Refugio Café sehr schnell verstanden und in die Tat umgesetzt. Wir sind Teil eines größeren Ganzen – dem Refugio Berlin. Das Café ist Ort zum Gespräch, zum Austausch, zum Kennenlernen der vielen Projekte, die im Haus stattfinden.
Unser Team besteht zum kleineren Teil aus Hauptamtlichen und zum größeren aus vielen lieben Menschen, die ihre Zeit dem Projekt Refugio spenden und ihre Fähigkeiten an der Kaffeemaschine ausprobieren, üben und weiterentwickeln. Wir lernen hier voneinander: Service, Latte Art, Kaffee- Kunst, Kuchen backen, deutsch sprechen. Wer das Refugio betritt, trifft zuerst diese Menschen. Und sie sind Herzensmenschen, alle zusammen!
Wir setzen auf die integrative Kraft des Kaffees, den wir geröstet von Vote Coffee aus dem Kaffe9 in der Markthalle Neun aus Kreuzberg bekommen. Wir unterstützen neben den fair hergestellten Drinks von Lemonaid auch die Lokalhelden von Solidrinks. Der Erlös jeder verkauften Flasche geht an soziale Projekte, die Geflüchtete unterstützen.
Wir wollen gute Qualität liefern, und sind dabei offen für Anfänger und Profis im Barista-Geschäft und Service. Unsere größte Qualität ist unsere Offenheit und natürlich unser guter Musikgeschmack.
Der beste und einfachste Weg, das Projekt/Café zu unterstützen, ist, bei uns auf einen Kaffee oder Kuchen vorbeizukommen. Jeder Cent, der im Café ausgegeben wird, kommt der Arbeit des Projekts zugute.
Volunteers machen unser Café erst möglich, und wir sind für ihre Unterstützung sehr dankbar. Wenn du unser Cafe-Team unterstützen willst und mindestens einmal pro Woche zur Verfügung stehen, besuche bitte die Rubrik "Ehrenamt" auf unserer Webseite, lies die Infos und melde dein Interesse an.
Bitte beachte, dass wir nicht immer neue Freiwillige aufnehmen können, je nachdem wie voll unser Team ist. Außerdem können wir Anfragen nicht immer so schnell beantworten, wie wir es gerne hätten. Hab also bitte etwas Geduld!

Coffee brings people together. Cafes are places where good things happen.
We realised this early on, and therefore the cafe has always been a central part of the Refugio project and community. The cafe is the “open-door” of Refugio, and is the place for chatting, social exchange and getting to know the people/projects in the house.
--- WHO WE ARE ---
The project has a small team of staff, who are supported by volunteers, without whom, the project and cafe would not be possible or sustainable.
The Cafe is 100% non-profit - which means that every cent that the cafe earns is part of funding the valuable work of the wider Refugio project.
--- WHAT WE DO ---
With a small but lovingly-chosen and prepared menu, Refugio Cafe is a welcoming, peaceful and colourful space, for the benefit of the house-community and the whole whole of Neukölln.
--- COFFEE ---
Our coffee is the best of the best - Vote-Coffee are an independent coffee roastery in Berlin, and provide the artisan-quality coffee beans for the cafe.
We are also the proud users of a top-of-the-range La Marzocco coffee machine.
Our volunteer team includes a handful of professional baristas, who train new team members to produce only great coffees.

--- FOOD AND DRINK
As well as coffee, we sell a range of fresh and bottled drinks, including from Lemonaid and Solidrinks. Proceeds from these drinks producers go directly to social projects to support refugees.
Our cakes are all home baked, and we have regular specials including home baked quiches and other baked goods. We have a regularly updated menu of fresh sandwiches and soups.
--- HOW TO SUPPORT ---
